The concept on which start the exhibition “REGENERATION, a second skin” is the cultural ecology, that line of ethno-anthropological science research that investigates the relationship between the socio-cultural aspects of human groups and the environment in which they live, in close relationship with other disciplines such as ecology, human geography, biology, industrial archeology, economics, demography. The term cultural ecology was proposed for the first time by Julian Steward in 1955, in the text “Theory of Culture Change, The Methodology of multilinear Evolution”. Specifically, the exhibition is the exchange regenerative between art / man / nature / environment: the works generated purchase other life with immersion and on the staff in social work. Some artists like italian Giovanni Lamorgese, are represented by works re-produced, with the reuse of waste materials and objects 30s, initiating an innovative way between artist and work, space and audience, encouraging the creation of a work investee. The main focus of cultural ecology is formed by the process of adaptation to the environment of social groups based on conditions (see video of Gabriela Francone, “The tragico cotidiano”) from the constraints and limitations (Alessandro Passaro, and Gabriela Morawetz with works on silk “Almost in the dark “) by technology and production techniques, environmental changes induced directly or indirectly (by Batuhan Fuat Yuce and by Luigi Caiffa). Such disciplinary approach is therefore primarily related to the materialistic conceptions of culture, which is considered as the system of knowledge that enables man to relate in an active way with the environment in order to make it possible to reproduce bio-social. The backdrop to this conception of culture a vision of the social system, however, mitigated by the fact that the technological knowledge are also considered influential on socio-cultural solutions that will be produced by adaptation to the environment (with Keisuke Sagiyama & Mitsuru Tamatsuka in the video “Yosakoy “) and the problems of social identity and transformation (with videos of Katja A. Witt, Sofi Basseghi, Sije Kingma and paintings by Therese Bichon, Marcor, Christine Sajecki.). From the perspective of diachronic analyzes are carried out instead of the evolution over time of the ecological balance, supported by research etnoarcheologiche in the photographic works of Massimo Ruiu with “Derive” and painting by Maurizio Muscettola with ” the inconvenient witness.”
